The ACT is a standardized test that evaluates high school students’ proficiency in English, Math, Reading, Science, and includes an optional writing language section. Although some colleges do not require the ACT for admission, it is still used for college scholarships. ACT Prep is often necessary for entry into specific and frequently accelerated programs within college departments.
Most high school students desire a solid score of 24 which puts them in the 75th percentile. Unfortunately, ACT scores are plummeting in most states, the average in 2023 is less than a 20.
Educational Resource Associates has designed a special preparation program that results in 7-11 points of improvement, often putting scores in the range of the 30’s and even perfect scores of 36. The Educational Resources Associates program is unique and effective. Our clinic largely recognizes that the ACT is in fact a test of comprehension. All four subtests require analytical skills, even math!
Our step to success is to give an actual ACT to each student. An in-depth analysis is used to determine a student’s strengths and weaknesses. If a reading comprehension or even basic math deficiency is discovered the deficiency would be remediated. This remediation is implemented before the preparation for ACT begins.
Each ACT student has an individualized program that allows them to make gains. Besides teaching all the concepts, the students practice taking subtests frequently. Each series of subtests results are charted and graphed. These results let Educational Resource Associates target the students weaknesses and maximize growth.
Our tutors are selected because of their expertise in science, math, and communication. Although they do follow Educational Resource Associates structured approach, their personal ACT high scores (often 34-36) lead to their providing high level services. The instructors show skills in motivating and communicating with these pre-college students. The instructor’s enthusiasm towards the student’s achievement affects the student’s performance positively. With this training our students have reduced anxiety and approach the tests with confidence. This confidence and practice helps increase focus and endurance for the four-hour test.
If the student scores in the 28 to 36 range it allows the clients to choose the colleges and universities of their dreams. They often receive full scholarships and academic entrance into the college department’s most competitive division. Finally, this experience not only achieves this goal, but it affects their entire college experience. This gains a more confident, organized, and successful student.

“Since I’ve been going to Judy’s, it’s been awesome. I’ve learned a lot. I’ve gotten ten times better than I’ve gotten since I went to high school and middle school. I’ve learned a lot more from Judy than from the school district.”
